Lakers News & Rumors Recap: Player and Coaching Moves Galore

The Lakers announced they wouldn’t be bringing back forward Devin Ebanks or point guard Chris Duhon in the 2013-14 season. However, the Lakers have made a qualifying offer to last year’s second round draft pick center Robert Sacre. In 32 games last season, Sacre averaged 1.3 points and 1.1 rebounds in just six minutes per game. The Lakers made a smart move offering to keep him, as the future of Howard is uncertain and looking bleak.

According to Chris Broussard of ESPN, Howard is leaning away from the Lakers, and is reportedly unlikely to return to Los Angeles next season. Despite the billboards around Los Angeles, Howard the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks are the two favorites to land the All-Star center. Check out JJ Baccari’s post for Lakers Nation, as he discusses D’Antoni and Kobe Bryant as two people who have pushed Howard away.

Fans won’t know until July 10th what will happen; the NBA’s free agency period will begin on July 1, but players will not be able to sign a contract until July 10.

Last piece of business….Is the NBA Draft not the most exciting time of the year?!!! Wait… except the Lakers don’t pick till choice 48….Regardless, enjoy NBA lovers. These players are your future!
