The Los Angeles Lakers are still waiting for Steve Nash to return from injury, but with the latest news, it may be a long time before he hits the courts again.

According to ESPN, the Lakers guard cannot jog due to a fracture in his fibula which he injured in an Oct. 31 game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Steve Nash said Friday that he hasn’t been able to jog yet or do any on-court work without feeling pain his fractured left leg and doubted that he’d be ready to play when the Lakers return home to play Indiana on Tuesday.

“I can’t jog yet so … I don’t think so,” Nash said when asked if he thought there was a chance he could play Tuesday, after being re-evaluated by the Lakers team doctors on Monday.

Nash has been ruled out for the Lakers’ next two games and there is a good chance he will miss more games aside from those two. Los Angeles is in desperate need for an elite point guard, especially with Mike D’Antoni now running the sidelines.

The Lakers are currently relying on Chris Duhon and Darius Morris to anchor the team at that position, and there is no doubt they cannot run the D’Antoni system like Nash can. However, at the end of the day, the Lakers should not rush Nash’s rehab process and they should get him back on the court when he is 100 percent.
