Steve Nash jpgThe Los Angeles Lakers have a busy off-season ahead of them, and most of their time will be spent trying to convince Dwight Howard to sign a long-term deal. However, there are a few players on the roster that the Lakers don’t have to worry about much.

One of those players is Steve Nash, who is still under contract, and unless the team decides to trade him, he will be staying with the franchise. Much has been made of Nash’s age and whether or not he can help the Lakers win despite being older than most of the players in the league.

However, TMZ reports that while in front of a judge in a custody case, Nash said he does not plan to retire from the NBA.

39-year-old Steve Nash swore under penalty of perjury … the Los Angeles Lakers star has no plans to hang up his jersey and retire from basketball, TMZ has learned.

The revelation ironically came in the middle of a legal war he’s having with his ex-wife over her plans to move with their kids from Arizona to California.

Steve is trying to block the move … his ex believes it’s because Nash fears a California judge would nail him for child support.

Steve is on the stand right now … and that’s where he revealed he plans to stick around the NBA for a while.

Nash struggled in his first season with the Lakers, but most of it was plagued with injuries, which prevented him from finding any rhythm with the team. The Lakers are hoping the Hall of Fame bound point guard can regain his All-Star form next season, and hopefully guide this team somewhere higher than the seventh seed.
