During his exit interview with the media, Lakers guard Steve Nash voiced his desire for impending free-agent Dwight Howard to remain with the Lakers.

Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters was in El Segundo for the exit interviews:

After being swept by the Spurs yesterday, all the attention turned to Howard’s future and whether or not he will remain in Los Angeles. He was adamant that he would take some time off to clear his head before he heads into free agency in July.

Nash was sidelined most of the season with a fracture in his left leg, but towards the end of the season he was bothered by hip and hamstring injuries. For the season, he averaged 12.7 points and 6.7 assists, his lowest assists output since the 1999-00 season.

For the greater part of the season the Lakers struggled to find their identity as Howard was slowed by offseason back surgery. Nash’s desire for Howard to remain with the Lakers is a sentiment most fans and management share.

For Howard to become the player he wants to be, playing with Nash, Kobe Bryant and Gasol will be the best decision for him. Dwight and Nash seemed to form a nice relationship during the season and the Lakers can only hope Howard listens to Nash’s plea.
