Lakers News: Team Announces Memorial Service For Dr. Jerry Buss

JerryBussOn Monday, Feb. 18, longtime Los Angeles Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss passed away at the age of 80 following an 18-month battle with cancer.

Buss’ memorial service will be held at the Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 3 p.m. to honor arguably the greatest owner in American team sports and one of Los Angeles’ biggest icons.

Buss is survived by his six children Jim, Jeanie, Johnny, Janie, Joey and Jesse.

The Lakers’ front office out the following press release about the service set to be held this Thursday in Los Angeles.

MISCELLANEOUS: This service is for invited guests only and will not be open to the public.

Media with 2012-13 Lakers season credentials will be allowed access to the service.

For media who do not have Lakers season credentials but would like to attend, please email Blair Bartlett at bbartlett@aegworldwide.com by 3pm, Wednesday to apply for credentials. Media will be notified by e-mail by the close of business day on Wednesday if they are approved.

All approved media (both with Lakers season credentials and daily credentials) will need to obtain a wristband upon arrival.

NO MEDIA WILL BE ALLOWED ENTRANCE WITHOUT A WRISTBAND.

Wristbands can be picked up starting at 12:30pm at the media table next to doors 3 & 4 adjacent to the Nokia Theatre box office.

NOTE: Microwave truck parking is available on the roof of the L.A. LIVE’s Event Deck, accessible at the corner of Chick Hearn Ct. and L.A. LIVE Way.
