As the Los Angeles Lakers look towards the beginning of training camp, the team has 13 players under contract, leaving them with two open spots left on the roster. No one knows if the Lakers will add other players, but they are sure to be looking around at potential additions.

One possibility appears to be former Los Angeles Clippers center Ryan Hollins, who told Sirius XM NBA that he has had discussions with the Lakers, among other teams, about a contract:

Hollins would be an interesting addition to the team as he is a true center and an athletic one at that, who would provide the team with some rim protection. Hollins has averaged nearly two blocks per 36 minutes in his career.

The Lakers’ front court is extremely crowded, however. Jordan Hill, Carlos Boozer, Julius Randle, and Ed Davis will all be fighting for minutes, and Robert Sacre and Ryan Kelly will be trying to squeeze their way into the rotation as well.

Hollins is a veteran who has played for six teams in his eight NBA seasons, spending the last two with the Clippers. He also played four years at UCLA so he is no stranger to the Los Angeles area.

With the Lakers already over the salary cap limit, they could only offer Hollins a league minimum contract.
