The 2014 NBA Draft is only a few weeks away with still no indication which player the Los Angeles Lakers might consider selecting with the seventh pick overall on June 26.

On Wednesday, the Lakers brought in 12 draft prospects in two separate workout sessions. Both sessions were chalk full of talented prospects that could be available with the seventh pick in the upcoming draft.

Once all the workouts wrapped up on Wednesday, GM Mitch Kupchak talked about the upcoming draft and what the team may do. Kupchak made it clear that the team won’t be targeting a certain position in the draft, but rather the best player available, according to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

With the Lakers not getting the most favorable pick in the upcoming draft, the team could elect to trade the pick for multiple selections later in the draft. The Kevin Love sweepstakes has been a hot topic as of late with plenty of rumors linking the superstar forward to the Lakers, but it seems doubtful they’d be able to offer a trade package that would intrigue the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Over the past week or so, rumors have surfaced that the Timberwolves might be considering trading Love before the draft. The team is fielding numerous offers from around the league with teams like the Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls and Houston Rockets all rumored to be interested in the perennial All-Star.

With the prospect of landing Love in a trade not a likely scenario, the Lakers could target a player like Aaron Gordon (Arizona), Tyler Ennis (Syracuse), Marcus Smart (Oklahoma State), Julius Randle (Kentucky) or Zach LaVine (UCLA) on draft day.
