Following the loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Lakers’ front office is strongly considering making a few more moves to help the team get back on track with Steve Nash still recovering from the leg fracture injury suffered earlier in the season.

With Nash on the shelf for at least two more weeks and Steve Blake not set to return until January after undergoing surgery to repair an abdominal muscle, there’s talk of the Lakers potentially making room to sign free-agent point guard Delonte West according to ESPN’s Marc Stein via Twitter:

West has been on the Lakers’ radar for quite some time with the team expressing interest in the 29-year-old combo guard during the off-season. The 10-year veteran ultimately decided to re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks, but was waived by the Mavs for multiple violations of the team’s conduct policy.

Last season, West averaged 9.6 points, 3.2 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.3 rebounds per game in 44 games for the Mavs.

Other possibilities via free agency for the Lakers at the point guard position are Jonny Flynn and Mike James. Rumors have been circulating about a potential trade to acquire Jose Caldron for the Toronto Raptors, but it remains uncertain how serious the team is about potentially pulling the trigger on another trade rather than adding players in free agency.
