With Dwight Buycks fracturing a bone in his right hand during Sunday night’s loss to the Dallas Mavericks, the Los Angeles Lakers were left with only two healthy guards in rookies Jordan Clarkson and Jabari Brown.

The team is now reportedly planning to sign guard Vander Blue from the Los Angeles D-Fenders for the final two games of the season according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports:

Blue had been one of the stars for the D-Fenders this season, averaging 23.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.3 assists in 49 games with the team. He also shot 47.3 percent from the field and an impressive 41.6 percent from three-point range.

The injury to Buycks forced the Lakers hand in bringing in someone else as not only did the Lakers have only the two guards, but thanks to Wesley Johnson turning his ankle, had no healthy small forwards as well. Ryan Kelly will likely have to spend the bulk of his minutes at the three, something both he and Byron Scott know is not his strength.

The backcourt of the Lakers has been completely decimated this season as the team has lost Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Xavier Henry, Nick Young, Wayne Ellington, Jeremy Lin, and Ronnie Price for the rest of the season. Blue will get the chance to make an impact in the NBA, even if it is only for two games, as he is sure to see plenty of court time.
