Last week, newcomer Xavier Henry was officially ruled out of the season due to issues with his right knee and left wrist. Now it appears that Henry isn’t wasting any time with the 23-year-old set to undergo surgery on Friday according to the Los Angeles Lakers Twitter account:

With Henry set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, the former lottery pick will be hoping to garner interest from teams around the league. Speeding up the process to get his body right makes a lot of sense as no player wants to enter free agency with an injury let alone multiple injuries.

Although it is uncertain what the level of interest is from the Lakers, Henry has expressed interest in re-signing with the team. Henry played well with the Lakers this season averaging a career-high 10.0 point per game while being a force off the bench and occasionally in the starting lineup.

Along with Henry, Jodie Meeks and Wes Johnson have also expressed interest in returning. Meeks may be the most likely to return with the sharpshooter coming off a career year, but everything is up in the air moving forward with no clear indication of the team’s intentions heading into the off-season.
