Today on LakersNation TV, the Lake Show in one of the best games of the year in Memphis and rumors, rumors, rumors as the trade deadline gets closer.  Let’s get started!

Hi everyone I’m Jason Barquero and man what a game!  Let me give you the breakdown… Bynum went beast mode last night with 37 points and 16 rebounds and the purple and gold nailed 28 of 34 from the free throw line, all leading to a double overtime 116-111 victory.  It was a bit of a heartbreaker for the Grizzlies as they entered the fourth quarter leading 80-71, but let an even bigger lead go in the 3rd quarter of 17 points, after starting the 2nd half on a 20-4 run.  Coach Mike Brown after the game told reporters that the team has continued to stay the course.  He says, “they played the game the whole time and nobody panicked”.  When asked if he’s seen a difference in the way Kobe and Bynum have collaborated since the All-Star break, “We have to give stuff time.  I wish it could have happened yesterday, but I think this is a new role for us.  And as a team we’re starting to play a little bit better basketball.”

Okay, now make sure you take notes, because this can get dicey… ESPN is reporting that the Bulls have been inquiring about landing Pau Gasol.  Now the Bulls originally were in on the Dwight Howard sweepstakes but since then have had to change their thinking and are trying to grab the big Spaniard.  The Lakers, however, are reportedly not interested in anyone on the Bulls roster.  It seems as though a third team would have to enter the talks in order to suffice Mitch Kupchak’s appetite.  The Rockets continue to have interest in Gasol but are not willing to budge with point guard Kyle Lowry.  Now the Cleveland Cavaliers have recently tried to reignite talks with L.A. that would deal point guard Ramon Sessions over to Staples, by bringing the Rockets into the mix as the third team.  Finally, the L.A. Times reported that the Lakers turned down a trade that would have sent Gasol to Boston for Rajon Rondo.  A move that ESPN’s Doug Stewart says was a “DUMB MOVE” on the Lakers part.

And since this IS Lakers Nation, I have to report what Mr. Laker himself, Magic Johnson has been up to… try bidding ONE POINT SIX BILLION DOLLARS for the Dodgers.  The L.A Times has reported that Magic Johnson and his group have the highest bid out there of any other ownership group, and so far, have passed all the hurdles.  Now a decision should be made in the next two weeks, but one of the greatest Lakers of all time as owner of one of the greatest sports franchises all time, is getting closer to a reality
