The Los Angeles Lakers made a major move at the NBA trade deadline, sending out Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye and a first-round pick in the 2018 Draft.
Thomas already made his Lakers debut and had an impressive performance against the Dallas Mavericks, but is he a piece that the team will look to keep long-term?
To discuss Thomas’ arrival, LN Podcast host Trevor Lane brings in Anthony Irwin and Harrison Faigen of Locked on Lakers. We touch on whether or not Thomas is the fit that the Lakers ideally want, and if he’s someone that the team should see as a fallback option to LeBron James and Paul George, who they are rumored to be targeting this summer.
Given his small stature, defense will always be an issue with Thomas, but is it enough to stop him from being a useful player for the Lakers? And perhaps more importantly, will Thomas be able to co-exist with starting point guard Lonzo Ball, who is getting closer to a return from injury?
Plus, we discuss power forward Julius Randle, who was rumored to be on the trade block but ended up staying put. Is this a sign that the front office may be changing their thinking on him, especially now that he is playing so well?
