Kobe Bryant’s down and out, but the Lakers were in high spirits at the Lakers practice facility this morning. Even with the news that the Lakers will once again be without Steve Nash for tomorrow’s game against the Houston Rockets (their last game of the regular season), the overall consensus is that this team, without Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash, can win tomorrow.

Mike D’Antoni was the first to address the media, stating the underlying factor that the Lakers playoff destiny is in their hands.

“It’s come down to, it’s in our hands and that’s kind of what we’ve been playing for, and we’ve wanted it, so here it is. Let’s go out and go get it and take care of our own destiny.”

Pau Gasol spoke about the Lakers ability to win tomorrow without their closer Kobe Bryant, and that although it’s their last game of the season it is no different from the past 10 games. When asked about whether or not he knows all the combinations relating to the Lakers playoff future going into tomorrow’s game, he said,

“I know my math.”

Gasol also talked in depth about his effectiveness in the starting line-up alongside Dwight Howard. He was open about not fitting into Mike D’Antoni’s system, until recently.

“The personnel that we have here was not fitting to his philosophy so him thinking that we couldn’t co-exist on the floor together…it’s just a clear sign of it”
