The Los Angeles Lakers selected Duke University forward Brandon Ingram with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, as he hopes to pick up the slack in Los Angeles left by the retirement of Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.

While he has yet to play a game with the Lakers, expectations are high for Ingram as he averaged 17.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in his lone season at Duke, helping his team reach the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament before being defeated by Oregon.

With the beginning of Training Camp just a week away, the buzz surrounding the Lakers young nucleus is starting to grow, as fans look forward to the future. While his focus at the moment is on basketball, it appears Ingram will take a night off on Wednesday, and enjoy a night at Dodger Stadium rooting for the Lakers baseball counterpart, the Los Angeles Dodgers. According to Matt Moreno of DodgerBlue.com, Ingram will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch before Wednesday night’s game against the San Francisco Giants:

Brandon Ingram, Los Angeles Lakers rookie and No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Lakers head coach Luke Walton and former Lakers forward Metta World Peace previously had the honor of doing so this season.

Ingram will likely hear a large ovation from the Dodger Stadium crowd, which was not the case Monday night when Los Angeles Clippers guard Austin Rivers threw out the first pitch on Clippers Night, as Rivers was greeted with boos which is often the case when Clippers players go to Dodger games.

Despite drafting him second overall, it appears Ingram will begin the season coming off the bench as head coach Luke Walton recently said he does not want to start him right away.
