Right after the news broke about Mike D’Antoni’s resignation as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, numerous coaching candidates surfaced.

Some of the coaches rumored as potential candidates were George Karl, Tom Thibodeau, and UConn’s Kevin Ollie. Along with the several rumored names mentioned to coach the Lakers, University of Kentucky’s John Calipari, tweeted out his disinterest to leave the University.

With Calipari’s committed to stay with the Wildcats, another head coach has made it known that he has no intention to leave his team behind either. According to Christopher Dempsey of the Denver Post, Nuggets head coach Brian Shaw, has no plans to leave Denver:

I don’t have a take on the L.A. situation or the New York situation. I have a job here in Denver that I’m happy with. Though the season didn’t turn out how any of us would have liked, I’m happy where I am and I’m looking forward to coaching a full complement of healthy players. I’m not interested in doing anything than what I’m doing now.

During his time with the Lakers, Shaw was an assistant coach during their back-to-back championship runs from 2009-2010. He was also considered for the Lakers head coaching job following Phil Jackson’s departure as head coach, but was ultimately passed over in favor of Mike Brown.

As Shaw plans to stay with his team, it was also recently reported that the Lakers believe TNT analyst Steve Kerr, who was rumored to be on the team’s radar, is too far along in the process of joining the New York Knicks.

With the Lakers focused on the upcoming 2014 NBA draft, the team likely won’t make a decision on a new head coach for quite some time, but Shaw likely won’t be on the list of potential candidates.
