The DeMarcus Cousins trade rumors don’t seem to be dying anytime soon and the Los Angeles Lakers remain at the forefront of all rumors and discussions surrounding the All-Star center.

According to Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times, the Lakers continue to discuss deals with the Kings and their offer may be the best one Sacramento can get right now:

The Lakers and Sacramento Kings continue to discuss a trade for Kings All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins, according to a person familiar with the situation. The Lakers’ offer includes the second overall pick in Thursday’s NBA draft and “might be the best offer the Kings can get” at this point, according to the person, although the Kings have publicly stated they are not interested in trading Cousins.

Bresnahan also added that the Lakers would likely have to include last year’s lottery pick, Julius Randle in the deal as well as ‘other salary considerations.’ The number two pick and Julius Randle is a steep price to pay for Cousins, but the Lakers may feel like he’s worth it.

Cousins averaged 24.1 points and 12.7 rebounds last season, numbers matched by only Shaquille O’Neal, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, David Robinson, and Kevin Love over the past 20 years.

Kings head coach George Karl reportedly wants veteran players if they were to trade Cousins, which is something that the Lakers could not offer. If there is no better deal out there, however, the Kings may be forced to reconsider as the Lakers look as if they are determined to bring Cousins to Los Angeles.
