Lakers Rumors: Dwight Howard Closer to Choosing Houston Rockets?

Dwight HowardDwight Howard isn’t even officially a free agent yet, but he seems to be drifting further and further away from the Los Angeles Lakers. After initial reports that Howard would consider offers from the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks, now it seems that the Rockets are feeling more optimistic than ever about their chances of signing Dwight Howard to a long-term deal.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN.com (h/t SportsCity.com), the big wigs in Houston are getting some good vibrations concerning the big man.

“Sources close to the process told ESPN.com that the Rockets have received what has been described as “hopeful signals” that Howard is seriously considering a jump from the Lakers to the Rockets after becoming a free agent July 1.”

It hasn’t been a secret that Howard would strongly consider leaving the Lakers during the off-season. After initially not even wanting to join the Lakers in the first place, he dealt with a remarkably rocky season and a fan base that never really bought into what he was selling.

Howard, who can’t officially become a free agent until July 1, will once again be the focal point of the NBA as fans, players and front office executives will all have their eyes on Dwight’s decision.
