Lakers Rumors: Jose Calderon Would Target Lakers if Amnestied

The Toronto Raptors are one of the team involved in the Steve Nash sweepstakes and will try to sign him as soon as it strikes midnight. However, if the Raptors were to bring in Nash they will likely have to get rid of their current point guard.

Jose Calderon has been a solid starting point guard in this league for quite some time, but has not received a lot of recognition partly due to the market size of Toronto. Nevertheless, the Raptors would have to clear cap space for Nash and that would mean the team would use their amnesty clause on Calderon.

According to reports, if Calderon becomes a free-agent under the amnesty clause, his first choice would be the Los Angeles Lakers, Real GM.

Calderon would have to clear waivers through the amnesty process before he is free to choose his next team.

But if he does become a free agent, Calderon would then look to sign with the Lakers.

Calderon would be a great addition to the Lakers and definitely an upgrade from Ramon Sessions. Calderon is 30 years old, but he has a lot of basketball left in him. So far in his NBA career, Calderon has averaged 9.9 points and 7.2 assits while leading the Raptors to some solid seasons.
