PauGasol2Injuries continue to be a problem for the Los Angeles Lakers with Dwight Howard still dealing with a torn labrum in his shoulder, Jordan Hill out of the season due to hip surgery and Pau Gasol going down with a foot injury in the win over the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night at the Barclays Center.

Gasol went down with strained plantar fascia in his right foot late in the fourth quarter against the Nets. The Spaniard headed to the locker room with athletic trainer Gary Vitti and as a result of the injury didn’t return.

The two-time NBA champion had an MRI on the injured right foot on Wednesday to determine the severity of the injury. Gasol will miss considerable time as a result of the injury leaving a huge void in the frontcourt along with the uncertainty of Howard’s return to the floor.

As for Kobe Bryant, the perennial All-Star continues to play at a high level for the Lakers helping lead the team to six wins out of the last seven games while currently riding a three-game winning streak heading into Thursday’s game against the arch rival Boston Celtics.

Along with continuing to play well, Kobe turned back the clock on Tuesday night by posterizing Gerald Wallace and Kris Humphries of the Nets. The monster dunk by Bryant instantly sparked the Lakers and ultimately proved to be the turning point for the team with the Nets threatening to come out with the win on their home floor.

Despite winning six of the last seven games, injuries continue to ravage this team moving forward with Howard’s timetable uncertain and Gasol potentially out for some time while recovering from the foot injury suffered against the Nets.
