With free agency underway, the Los Angeles Lakers have met with LaMarcus Aldridge, Greg Monroe and DeAndre Jordan. Unfortunately for the franchise, these players are expected to re-sign or head elsewhere.

Although the Lakers have their best efforts in landing other free agents, the team has still done its due diligence and reached out to their own. According to Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News, Jeremy Lin joins the recent Lakers to receive calls about a potential return:

The Lakers expressed interest in retaining Lin after free agency began on Tuesday night, according to a league source familiar with the situation. Lin also fielded interest from several teams, including Dallas, Memphis, Indiana, Chicago, San Antonio and the Clippers, according to a league source.

As it stands, it would hard to see Lin going back to the Lakers. He struggled all year and often clashed with head coach Byron Scott. The two occasionally disagreed how to handle pick-and-rolls and often failed to see eye-to-eye. Following the season’s end, Lin commented on how difficult the past year for him was as he tried to figure out the Lakers system.

The Lakers originally acquired Lin in an off-season trade last season which also ultimately lead to the Larry Nance Jr. draft selection. With the Lakers other first round pick in the draft, the team selected point guard D’Angelo Russell who would most likely see playing time above Lin should he return to the Lakers.
