The 6-foot-5 small forward was originally drafted in 2000 by the Dallas Mavericks with their 58th pick out of Cincinnati University. However, he spent no time on the court as a Maverick as the team cut him before the 2000-01 season started. He was then picked-up by the New York Knicks but also saw no playing time before getting cut.
The 35-year-old has since spent his career in the ABA and playing overseas. Mickeal has spent the last six years in the Euroleague, where he won the Euroleague in 2010 with FC Barcelona. In his six seasons in the Euroleague, Mickeal has averaged 10.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
It is yet to be seen if the Lakers officially invite Mickeal to training camp, but it appears that the Lakers want to add another versatile forward to the roster. It was also noted by HoopsHype that Mickeal is 100 percent healthy (per agent) and would only sign for a guaranteed contract in the NBA.
