Lakers Rumors & News Recap: Is Kobe Bryant Overpaid & Metta Continues to Improve His Game

Is Kobe Bryant overpaid? Yesterday on ESPN’s First Take program, Skip Bayless said that he believes Kobe Bryant is overpaid. The Lakers have three out of the top 10 highest paid players for the upcoming season, with Kobe being the highest; he is making almost $7 million more than the next highest paid player, Dallas Maverick’s forward Dirk Nowitzki.

Unfortunately, Skip Bayless’ opinion is in fact just that, an opinion. The only fact is that, while the Lakers are amongst the highest paid teams in the league, the Lakers will be just fine paying Kobe and the rest of the “Core 4” so long as they bring the Larry O’Brien trophy home.

Not being  part of that aforementioned “Core 4” hasn’t stopped Metta World peace from elevating his game. He has lost weight, stayed in shape, and been working furiously on his shot, and it’s a good thing at that because he is going to be wide open early and often, whether it’s off of pick-and-roll action or a kick out from a double on Dwight Howard.

Speaking of Dwight, do you think he is happy the Dwighmare is over? Well, he was recently in China for an Adidas promotional event wearing his new Lakers jersey. Check out Dwight smiling for the cameras decked out in purple and gold.
