Lakers Rumors & News Recap: Lakers Won’t be 0-82

The Lakers win for the first time this season and did so with incredible gusto. What a way to make a comeback. Dwight Howard was especially impressive, putting to rest the rumors that he was no longer the same Dwight. But what was especially refreshing to see was an increased concentration on the court and a team dynamic that was finally gelling.

The final tally was Lakers 108, Detroit 79.

I admit, I was a little hasty in believing in my fear the last three games. Jabari Davis of Lakers Nation wrote how the Lakers are still building their foundation and why it will still take some time to see the team that everyone expected. He picks apart the game last night, showing the positive points to note and where the Lakers showed gumption. Jabari’s piece is a great read if you are still a nervous fan.

Calling all Kobe fans. How would you like to see the Mamba play for another sixyears? According to Bryant, his goal isn’t to retire in two years, but rather to play until he is 40. As exciting as this may sound, Kobe admitted that these next six years may not just be in the NBA, but overseas; while mentioning his career, he talked about the possibility of even playing in places, such as Turkey. It seems that he’ll possibly consider playing only one or two seasons in Los Angeles after the current contract ends.

Not such good news comes from Twitter pertaining to Nash and the fracture on his leg. It looks like he could miss 7-10 days, as those injuries do take time to heal.

LAST NIGHT’S GAME STAT LEADERS
Points: Dwight Howard, 28
Rebounds: Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant, and Jordan Hill, 7
Assists: Kobe Bryant, 8
Steals: Steve Blake, 5
Blocks: Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol, 3
