Lakers Rumors & News Recap: Searching for Derek Fisher

Since the start of free agency, Derek Fisher was given options, 29 of them to exact. He could have gone to any NBA team but not back to the Lakers.

According to reports today, what was once thought an impossibility may become reality. With the rules in the new CBA stipulating that Fisher was unable to return to the Lakers until a year after he was traded, the veteran waiting until March 15, 2013 to sign with his former team seemed like a stretch to say the least. But, Fisher has been told by the league office that he has been eligible to re-sign with the Lakers since July 1. At his age, no matter where he goes, Fisher will likely be signing a one-year deal at the veteran’s minimum.

But would it be in the best interest of the Lakers to snatch him up? Lakers Nation Editor in Chief Daniel Buerge doesn’t seem to think so. Listing age as the number one reason why not, Buerge accounts how just because Fisher is familiar, it doesn’t mean he’s a good option.

Included in his post are tweets from LN’s number of fans eager to explain why the PG is or isn’t a good idea. See if something you said made it into Daniel’s article.

The Lakers play tonight against the Jazz at 7pm. Get the pre-game report here.
