Lakers Rumors & News Recap: Trading Players for Draft Picks

As of right now, the Lakers do not have a pick in the 1st round of the upcoming NBA draft. This is a disadvantage for the team roster, but things may change if the Lakers toy with the idea of giving up Metta World Peace for a 1st round pick.

“The Lakers are exploring all kinds of potential deals, having floated every name on the roster this side of Kobe Bryant. They are said to be open to trading Metta World Peace for a late first-rounder…”

World Peace hasn’t been on the front of our recent Lakers rumors this off season, so it is surprising to hear his name being thrown around. But Metta is not the only one who could aid the Lakers’ draft pick situation.

The Lakers might be exploring in the upcoming draft by trading Gasol to the Washington Wizards for the 3rd overall pick. The third overall pick would be a HUGE asset for the team, who wasn’t expected to pick in the first round at all. If they did obtain the third pick, a number of very talented players could be chosen; Austin Rivers (Duke), Harrison Barnes (North Carolina), and Thomas Robinson (Kansas) just to name a few.
