The Los Angeles Lakers are currently focused on the upcoming NBA Draft and which player they want to bring in with the second overall pick. In all likelihood, that player will either be Karl-Anthony Towns (Kentucky) or Jahlil Okafor (Duke) helping bolster the frontcourt for the foreseeable future.

After the draft is officially in the books, the Lakers will put all their efforts into free agency and trying to lure in one of the big names on the open market. Although signing Kevin Love may be realistic, every other big name available seems to be a stretch in terms of those players even considering Los Angeles in free agency.

It isn’t beyond the realm of possibility that the Lakers try to do what they’ve always done by attempting to make a trade or two. One potential trade target could former USC standout O.J. Mayo, according to Bleacher Report’s Kevin Ding:

Ding also mentions Brandon Jennings, Terrence Ross, and Wilson Chandler as potential targets the Lakers could go after. Lance Stephenson was also mentioned, but was traded from the Charlotte Hornets to the Los Angeles Clippers in a three-player deal on Monday.

Jennings is an intriguing option for the Lakers with the team tied to the Los Angeles native for years. The Lakers actually tried to engage the Detroit Pistons in trade talks for Jennings and Greg Monroe last season, but no deal came to fruition before the NBA trade deadline.

Although Jennings is rehabbing from a torn Achilles tendon, the Lakers may still be interested in landing him in a trade. The Pistons appear to be focused solely on keeping the recently acquired Reggie Jackson in Detroit long-term while possibly being flexible on potentially trading Jennings at some point in the near future.
