Lakers Rumors & Recap: Andrew Bynum Takes Shot at Lakers Fans

Andrew-BynumAfter being traded by the Los Angeles Lakers to the Philadelphia 76ers in a four-team deal, Andrew Bynum was expected to be the new face of the franchise in Philadelphia.

The 76ers parted ways with their biggest star in Andre Igoudala to bring in Bynum, but the deal ended up being a disaster with the one-time All-Star unable to play a single game in Philadelphia due to more knee problems.

Once officially an unrestricted free agent earlier this month, Bynum’s future was uncertain to say the least. Philadelphia had already made a move to replace Bynum by acquiring Nerlens Noel in a deal with the New Orleans Pelicans making the veteran’s exit a foregone conclusion.

Fortunately for Bynum, the Cleveland Cavaliers expressed considerable interest in bringing in the center in free agency. Bynum was no longer going to get a max deal that was anticipated, but still signing with the Cavs for $24 million over two years.

During Bynum’s introductory press conference with the Cavs, the former Laker took a shot at fans of the storied franchise in Los Angeles. Bynum said that playing for the Cavs would be the first time he will be playing in front of a fanbase that truly supports the team and players with passion.

Obviously, this was a shot at the Lakers and their fans. Needless to say, Bynum won’t be receiving the best reception at the Staples Center next season when the Cavs come to Los Angeles.
