The Los Angeles Lakers have not had a great season by any stretch of the imagination. The roster is simply not a playoff roster, especially in the competitive Western Conference, but the team has apparently been active in trying to make improvements.

According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, the team has made calls on a number of different players since December:

This is not surprising as the Lakers are committed to improving the team as quickly as possible and all of these players could make some kind of impact. Waiters has already been moved to the Oklahoma City Thunder so he is no longer an option, but the other two would be interesting additions.

Greg Monroe would immediately upgrade the Lakers’ frontcourt as he is a very talented offensive player. The Lakers did not pursue him this past off-season since he was a restricted free agent, but he will be unrestricted this summer so the Lakers may choose to wait and sign him in free agency as opposed to giving away players.

Jennings has played well recently and is from the Los Angeles area. He would undoubtedly help solve the Lakers’ issues at point guard. He has another year remaining on his contract at over $8 million, but with the Detroit Pistons playing better as of late, the team may not want to make any major moves anymore.
