On Thursday, the Los Angeles Lakers met with Carmelo Anthony at the team’s practice facility in El Segundo. With the franchise prepared to offer a max contract to Anthony, the Lakers are also still trying to set up a meeting with LeBron James’ representatives according to Los Angeles Times’ Mike Bresnahan:

While most feel James will ultimately remain in Miami, it has also been reported that the four-time MVP is ready to explore the market. As a result, his agent has already met with the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Houston Rockets.

For the Lakers, they are in a difficult position. While the ideal situation would be to sign both LeBron and Carmelo this summer, it appears they may have to move on fairly quickly from James to avoid missing out on their secondary candidates.

With Kyle Lowry re-signing with the Toronto Raptors, the team is expected to pursue players like Chandler Parsons, Trevor Ariza, Greg Monroe, and Channing Frye.
