The Los Angeles Lakers named Mike D’Antoni their head coach a few weeks back and the team is beginning a new chapter in the franchise’s history. The players are still getting adjusted to the coach and the system, but if everything goes according to plan, the Lakers will be a very dangerous team.

The Lakers fired Mike Brown just five games into the season and the front-office was ready to move away from the Princeton Offense. However, according to Ric Bucher, the Lakers will still keep Brown’s assistant coaches on D’Antoni’s staff.

The Los Angeles Lakers are unlikely to make any changes to the current staff of assistant coaches, according to a source.

When Brown was running the sidelines for the Lakers, Eddie Jordan, Steve Clifford, Bernie Bickerstaff, Chuck Person and Darvin Ham were on the coaching staff and all signs point to them remaining there. Those five assistant coaches will be joining Dan D’Antoni, Mike’s brother who was hired by the Lakers.

Los Angeles matched it’s talent roster with a plethora of skillful assistant coaches, and the front office is hoping this squad can be the last team standing in June. A lot of work still has to be put in, but after the Lakers’ dismantling of the Dallas Mavericks it appears as though the chemistry is finally forming.
