As the Los Angeles Lakers head into next week’s NBA Draft, the possibilities of what the team might do are endless. They could always remain at seven where someone like Marcus Smart or Julius Randle would likely be available.

But with the Lakers having such a a bare roster, the opportunity to add numerous pieces could be something the team is interested in. One possibility, according to ESPN’s Chad Ford, could involve moving down and acquiring forward Thaddeus Young from the Philadelphia 76ers:

Another possible scenario for the Sixers is to try to package Young and No. 10 to get a higher lottery pick. One potential scenario is with the Lakers. The Los Angeles Lakers have been looking to add young veterans to pair with Kobe Bryant and might be willing to move down a few spots to get one.

Something like that would have to intrigue the Lakers. Young has proven himself to be a very solid contributor in seven years in the NBA, and he turns only 26 years old tomorrow.

The Lakers could still possibly grab someone like Aaron Gordon, Nik Stauskas, or Elfrid Payton — all of whom will be working out for with the Lakers today with the 10th pick.

Of course, this is only speculation, but Young represents the type of player the Lakers are looking to add. If the team could come out of the draft with two young contributors instead of one, that would have to be considered a successful day.
