The 2012 NBA Summer League is finally here, and the Lakers first game is tonight at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, NV. The Lakers will be taking on their Pacific Division rivals from up north, the Golden State Warriors.

Summer league is a great opportunity for each team to evaluate the young talent on their roster and see which ones to invite to training camp later in the summer.

There are several players who have already secured roster spots with the Lakers, but for multiple younger players this is an opportunity to prove to the Lakers coaching staff that they have what it takes to make the team.

Two names that are sure to create quite a buzz this week are rookies Darius Johnson-Odom and Robert Sacre. Johnson-Odom was acquired by the Lakers from the Dallas Mavericks in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft, while Sacre was taken with the team’s lone draft pick.

Other notable names on the roster are Christian Eyenga, Darius Morris and Andrew Goudelock.

The Lakers 2012 Summer League team will be coached by Chuck Person.
