Bruno Mars, winner of seven Grammy Awards at last month’s ceremony, including Album of the Year, has gone on record in the past that Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant is his favorite basketball player. Now, Bryant is returning the compliment.
After his whirlwind and wildly successful “24K Magic” tour began in March 2017 and made stops at The Forum in Inglewood, and countless other cities, Mars announced a second leg for the tour with fast-rising star Cardi B, with whom he collaborated on the hit song “Finesse,” joining him.
Among the scheduled stops are four shows at Staples Center in October. With that, Bryant issued Mars an early welcome to the arena he called home for 20 illustrious seasons.
Staples Center tweeted Bryant’s message, during which he makes the connection between his No. 24 jersey being retired and the name of Mars’ tour:

The Staples Center shows will be the final stops on the second leg of the tour. When completed, Mars’ “24K Magic” journey will have encompassed 135 total shows.
Tickets for the Staples Center shows go on sale Friday, Feb. 16, at 12 p.m. on the Live Nation website.
