Ever the businessman, Los Angeles Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson remains involved with the Dodgers as one of the Guggenheim co-owners, the Sparks of the WNBA, and he also owns a stake in the LAFC, the newest MLS club.

After beginning their inaugural season with three road games, LAFC was at home, in the new Banc of California Stadium for a match with the Seattle Sounders FC. Their first home game came with the usual pomp and circumstance that’s to be expected.

Johnson was among the LAFC owners in attendance on Sunday. They sold-out crowd was treated to a close match, with Laurent Ciman putting in the only and game-winning goal.

Following the win, Johnson shared his experience and inside look at the environment at Banc of California Stadium.

Next for LAFC are matches at home Saturday and Wednesday, May 9. They’re 5-2 overall and have 15 points, which is good for second place in the Western Conference. Sporting Kansas City, who is also 5-2, has 17 points and is atop the conference.
