On opening night at Staples Center, the Los Angeles Lakers got off to a rocky start to the 2012-13 NBA season after falling to the Dirk Nowitzki-less Dallas Mavericks, and fell to the Portland Trail Blazers in their second game.
Despite the poor start to a potential title-contending season for the new-look Lakers, there are 80 more games to go in the regular season before heading into the NBA playoffs and possibly making a run at a 17th championship for the storied franchise.
Although starting the year with a loss after a winless preseason (0-8) is far from ideal, there’s plenty time to turn things around in Los Angeles. It will take some time before this new combination of superstar players on the Lakers’ roster begins to fire on all cylinders, but it will happen with more time on the floor together.
