Shortly after the NBA offered a ‘revised’ proposal to the NBA players, rumors surfaced over social media that major changes were made to the structure of the league. According to those claims, the deal allowed teams to send players to the Developmental League and cut the pay.

Obviously these angered players and many found this a deal-breaker which will ultimately led them to rejecting the offer. The rumors also stated that “Bird” rights may be in jeopardy and some teams that use certain salary cap exceptions may not be able to resign the players.

NBA Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver had this to say about the rumors: ““It’s of grave concern to the league that there is an enormous amount of misinformation concerning our proposal, both on Twitter and in the more traditional media. We believe that if the players are fully informed as to what is and is not in our proposal, they will agree that its terms are beneficial to them and represent a fair compromise.”

Once the NBA players get a chance to sit down and look over the proposal on Monday, the truth will be revealed. At this point, the rumors are futile. The players will now have to decide whether or not the deal is fair without outside distractions.
