D’Angelo Russell scored 40 points and the Los Angeles Lakers put on quite a show for the fans at Staples Center in their 125-120 loss to the reigning champion Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night. The Lakers led by as many as 11 points before the Cavaliers kicked it up a notch and secured the lead midway through the final quarter.

After the game, head coach Luke Walton was incredibly impressed with his team, especially with how the young players stepped up to the challenge. Walton also talks about the starting lineup pairing of Jordan Clarkson and D’Angelo Russell, which we haven’t seen much of this season.

Rookie Ivica Zubac comments on what it was like to play starting center against both LeBron James and Kevin Love and what he’s doing to try to secure his spot in the rotation next season. Zubac also talks about the big change he’s noticed in fellow rookie Brandon Ingram since the All-Star break.

Russell became the youngest Laker (at 21 years, 24 days old) to score at least 40 points in a regular season game, but he explains why setting that record doesn’t matter to him.
