On Friday night, the Los Angeles Lakers will meet up with the Phoenix Suns in a game that could have important draft implications. The Lakers currently have the second-worst records in the league, respectively, which gives them a 55.8 percent chance of keeping their top-three protected pick in May’s lottery.
The Suns have a four game lead in the win column on the Lakers, but should Los Angeles go on a winning streak and pass Phoenix in the standings, the odds of them hanging onto their pick drop to 46.9 percent.
Lakers coach Byron Scott has vowed to do everything he can to win games, in spite of lottery odds. Kobe Bryant will be sidelined once again due to a sore shoulder, but the Suns will be on the second night of a back-to-back, making this anyone’s ball game.
