Lakers reserve forward Matt Barnes has announced he is splitting with his fiancee, Gloria Govan. The couple, who have a pair of twin sons together, were previously set to be engaged last year but ultimately called off the wedding.
Rumors of Barnes’ infidelity swirled around the star the following spring though in an interview with essence.com last month Barnes and Govan seemed like they were looking forward to continuing a successful relationship.
Barnes shared the news in a statement on Monday.
I’d like to address the rumors surrounding mine and Gloria’s relationship. We have reached the difficult decision of ending our relationship and will be going our separate ways at this time. We will work together to raise our sons and wish each other only the best.
Govan is perhaps best known for being on the hit reality television series, Basketball Wives.
Barnes had been in the news recently with the announcement of a charity game he will be hosting that will take place in San Jose on Nov. 5. Proceeds from the game will benefit Barnes’ foundation, Athletes vs. Cancer.
