Metta World Peace Comfortable With Reserve Role

Yesterday Los Angeles Lakers head coach Mike Brown hinted at moving veteran forward Metta World Peace to the bench to take the place of recently departed reserve Lamar Odom.

The most recent twist in the story isn’t much of a twist at all. Now it appears that the artist formerly known as Ron Artest would be okay in a reserve role for the Lakers.

“It’s going to be good. I get a chance to come in and have more responsibility, which is good. It’s going to make the other team off balance. Kobe, Pau and Bynum are going to be out and you’re still going to have to double-team me. You can’t leave me alone on the block by myself.”

There have been plenty of questions surrounding the Lakers as the new season approaches, and many of those questions relate to Brown. But, it seems that Brown is finding ways to motivate his players.

In front of the media Brown openly asked World Peace who he would blame if the bench unit wasn’t performing as advertised.

“Me,” said World Peace.

Perfect.

Whether World Peace’s new responsibility will truly be taken to heart once the season begins is obviously yet to be seen.
