NBA: Los Angeles Lakers at Milwaukee BucksUSA Basketball is by far the best basketball program in the world, and after winning the gold medal in the 2012 Olympics, the team is looking to once again defend its title in Brazil.

The team learned that head coach Mike Krzyzewski will return for the 2016 Olympics, a proven winner at both the college and international level. Krzyzewski is a basketball genius, and if there is one man that can lead the talent on USA Basketball to a gold medal, it’s him.

However, the New York Post reports that one of Krzyzewski’s main assistant coaches will not be joining him in 2016.

Los Angeles Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni has served as an assistant coach for Krzyzewski in the past, but he will not be doing so the next time the summer games roll around.

Former Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni has told Mike Krzyzewski he will not be rejoining his new Olympic staff, according to a league source.

Team USA will announce Krzyzewski’s return tomorrow as U.S. Olympic coach but D’Antoni will no longer be part of it.

D’Antoni decided not to join the coaching staff due to the four year commitment that would take away from his family time. D’Antoni has been with Team USA since 2006 and in that time he has won two gold medals, an impressive feat for the Lakers’ head man.
