All the talk surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers heading into the upcoming NBA season seems to involve Kobe Bryant. No one knows whether Kobe has enough left in the tank to lead this team in his 19th season after coming off two consecutive serious injuries.

The five-time NBA champion recently got back on the court with his teammates at the Lakers practice facility and everyone that has seen him play in scrimmages has been impressed. Kobe appears to be back to form or at least playing as if he hasn’t been banged up over the last year or so.

GM Mitch Kupchak talked to the media on Friday and said the following about what he’s seen from Kobe, via Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

The 2014-15 NBA season will get underway on Oct. 28 with the Houston Rockets visiting the Lakers at the Staples Center. It’ll be the first time Kobe will go head-to-head against Dwight Howard since the veteran center left Los Angeles back in the summer of 2013.

Along with the added motivation from Sporting News ranking him seventh overall among NBA shooting guard, Kobe will also have a shot at the top-ranked player at his position in James Harden. Highly likely Kobe will head into this game with a chip on his shoulder using Harden and Dwight as extra motivation.
