After their disappointing defeat against the Memphis Grizzlies, the Los Angeles Clippers face an offseason of uncertainty as star guard Chris Paul is slated to become an unrestricted free agent.

Paul has a five-year $108 million contract on the table from the Clippers, but has maintained that he will be patient until July 1.

While the Lakers have their own free agent drama with center Dwight Howard, the Clippers remain confident that Paul will re-sign.

Paul would never have been a Clipper if outgoing commissioner David Stern didn’t veto the proposed three-team deal to the Lakers in December of 2011.

Since Paul didn’t come to the Lakers, the team created a “super-team” with the additions of Steve Nash and Howard.

While there are Lakers fans that want the team to go after Paul and decide not to re-sgin Howard, but with a point guard slated to make $18 million over the next two years, those ideas are unrealistic.
