NBA News: Former Laker Kent Bazemore Signs With Atlanta Hawks

The Los Angeles Lakers saw another player from last year’s roster head elsewhere on Friday with Kent Bazemore agreeing to sign with the Atlanta Hawks, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein:

The Lakers expressed interest in retaining Bazemore during the free agency period, but obviously weren’t willing to top the offer the Hawks were sending his way. Bazemore was acquired by the Lakers in the trade that sent veteran point guard Steve Blake to the Golden State Warriors before the NBA trade deadline last season.

During Bazemore’s short time in Los Angeles, the 25-year-old made an impression. Head coach Mike D’Antoni gave Bazemore considerable minutes with the Lakers and he made the best of it turning heads around the league making him a desirable free agent on the open market.

In 23 games with the Lakers, Bazemore averaged 13.1 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. Bazemore also became a force from outside shooting 37.1 percent from beyond the arc.

MarShon Brooks was also acquired by the Lakers in the Blake deal, but will also head elsewhere with the guard currently on the Summer League squad for the Sacramento Kings.
