Last week, the rumors started to circulate about the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers being the frontrunners to sign veteran center, JaVale McGee. Although it was an intriguing option for Los Angeles, the Mavericks ended up landing the 27-year-old.

According to Mavs Insider Earl K. Sneed, McGee has agreed to terms with Dallas:

McGee has signed a two-year deal with Dallas, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein:

The Mavericks may have lost out on the chance to sign DeAndre Jordan in free agency this summer, but they’ve done well in their efforts to rebound from the failed signing. Dallas went out and signed veteran point guard Deron Williams along with Wesley Matthews.

Although no one is considering Dallas a legitimate title contender or a team that can compete for a playoff spot in the highly competitive Western Conference, the Mavericks may surprise some people this season.

As for the Lakers, the team agreed to terms with undrafted rookie Jonathan Holmes on Thursday. Holmes inked a multi-year deal with Los Angeles, but the terms of the deal have yet to be released.
