There’s been rumors surrounding Kevin Love’s future for quite some time. Love has the option to get out of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers in order to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and many believe that’s the path he’ll take.

Although all signs have pointed to Love leaving Cleveland, the three-time All-Star once again downplayed the notion of not being with the Cavaliers next season, via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin:

With the emergence of Tristan Thompson and Love seemingly like the odd man out in Cleveland, the prospect of the star power forward leaving the Cavaliers seems highly likely. Before going down with the season-ending shoulder injury, Love struggled to find his role on this team leading to speculation that he’d jump at the opportunity to leave for a bigger role elsewhere.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics have been the two teams linked to Love over the past few years. Both teams will be ready to throw a max deal Love’s way if he tests free agency, but the 26-year-old making this statement may have people second-guessing his availability this summer.

Love will be one of many big-name free agents to hit the open market come July 1 if he decides to opt out of his deal with Cleveland. LaMarcus Aldridge, Marc Gasol, DeAndre Jordan, Rajon Rondo, Goran Dragic, and Greg Monroe will be the names atop of the list of free agents looking for new deals this summer.
