NBA News: Knicks Introduce Phil Jackson As President

The New York Knicks held a press conference this morning to officially introduce Phil Jackson as their new team president of basketball operations.

Jackson returns to the team who drafted him in 1967 and where he won two championships as a player. He will surely be tested in his first front office position of his career and has the tough task of turning around a Knicks squad that is currently 27-40 this season and four games out of the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference.

Jackson will also have to do all he can with Carmelo Anthony to try and get him to re-sign with New York during the off-season. On Tuesday, Jackson gave his full support to the 29-year-old All-Star, saying he might be “the best isolation player in the league” and that he has “no problems with committing to saying Carmelo is in the future plans.”

Anthony will most likely opt out of his current contract at the end of this season. While this is clearly a game-changing move, there are rumors that Anthony plans on leaving New York despite Jackson’s arrival.
