The Los Angeles Lakers are arguably the most recognizable sports franchise in the world. From their star studded lineups to the iconic purple and gold logo, people from all over the world have been exposed to the Lakers in one way or another.

The Lakers are fortunate to be situated in Los Angeles, a city that attracts tourists from every corner of the Earth. Staples Center is known for hosting some memorable games and everyone can remember at least one Lakers game that had them on the edge of the seats.

Then there is the jersey, a simple purple and gold article with the word “Lakers” running across the chest. These jerseys are not just worn on the basketball court, but around city streets and even in music videos. Kobe Bryant jerseys are quite popular, and those of Magic Johnson will be ever prevalent.

Paul Lukas of Uni Watch ranked all 30 NBA jerseys and he had the Lakers at the third spot, with the arch rival Boston Celtics coming in at number one.

“The Spurs, Lakers, Warriors and Jazz comprise the remainder of the top-five.”

Lukas pointed out to the simplicity of the Celtics jersey, without any of the flashy designs of some of the other ones in the NBA. The Lakers and Celtics share a similar layout, with the team’s name going across the chest. However, the Lakers do have a different design running down the sides.

The Spurs have a basis silver and white jersey, but it appeals to almost every fan. The design is very basic, and just like the Lakers’ and Celtics’ jersey, it is not too flashy.

The Warriors and Jazz have added a little bit of flavor to their jerseys and they are certainly some of the most popular ones in the league. Both teams decided to ditch their previous designs and go back to jerseys from decades prior.

The Sacramento Kings came in last place on Lukas’ list despite their recent jersey redesign. To make matter worse, the team is struggling to find an identity and their place on the jersey rankings is the last of their worries.
