NBA Power Rankings Week 17: Spurs, Heat Continue To Dominate At Break

30. Charlotte Bobcats (12-40, Last Week: 29): Bobcats. Worst record in the league. What more can I say?

29. Orlando Magic (15-37, Last Week: 30): The Magic have lost nine of their last ten games.

28. Phoenix Suns (17-36, Last Week: 27): The Suns are currently in the midst of a four-game losing streak, and have lost six of seven games.

27. Minnesota Timberwolves (19-31, Last Week: 28): The Wolves have lost 11 of their last 13, and are obviously struggling without their superstar: Kevin Love.

26. Sacramento Kings (19-35, Last Week: 26): The Kings have lost six of their last eight games, and give up a league-high average of 103.8 points per game to their opponents.

25. Cleveland Cavaliers (16-27, Last Week: 22): The Cavs have lost three games in a row–all on their home court.

24. Portland Trailblazers (25-28, Last Week: 17): Portland has lost five games in a row–all coming away from home in a six-game road trip.

23. Detroit Pistons (21-33, Last Week: 23): The Pistons are 3-4 over their last seven games as Jose Calderon is trying to find his way in Detroit.

22. Philadelphia 76ers (22-29, Last Week: 19): The Sixers lost both of their games last week.

21. New Orleans Hornets (19-34, Last Week: 25): The Hornets have won four of five games as of late.

20. Washington Wizards (15-26, Last Week: 21): The Wizards are 4-1 in their last five games.

19. Milwaukee Bucks (26-25, Last Week 18): The Bucks have lost four of their last five games. Samuel Dalembert continues to play well, however.

18. Dallas Mavericks (23-29, Last Week: 20): The Mavericks are 5-5 over their last 10 games, but 3-1 over their last four.

17. Toronto Raptors (21-32, Last Week: 24): Winners of four games straight, The Raptors appear to be playing quite well since acquiring Rudy Gay.

16. Golden State Warriors (30-22, Last Week: 13): The Warriors have struggled as of late; currently in the midst of a five-game losing streak.

15. Houston Rockets (29-26, Last Week: 15): Without James Harden, the Rockets were no match for the Los Angeles Clippers. Good thing for Houston, Harden played in the All Star Game and should return to the lineup to face his former team–the Oklahoma City Thunder–on Wednesday.

14. Utah Jazz (30-24, Last Week: 16): A victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday bumps the Jazz up here.

13. Los Angeles Lakers (25-29, Last Week: 14): Three and a half games behind the eighth seeded Houston Rockets, the Lakers sure have their work cut out for them. They’ll need to establish themselves as a force after the All Star break is over, starting with a strong game over the Boston Celtics.

12. Atlanta Hawks (29-22, Last Week: 12): The Hawks are set to take on the Miami Heat in Miami on Wednesday. Josh Smith has been playing well.

11. Brooklyn Nets (31-22, Last Week: 11): Deron Williams has been sidelined with tendinitis in his ankle over the past two games. However, Brook Lopez has played well as the Nets won both of those games.

10. Chicago Bulls (30-22, Last Week: 9): The Bulls lost consecutive games to the San Antonio Spurs and Boston Celtics last week.

9. Boston Celtics (28-24, Last Week: 10): The Celtics have won eight of nine games since Rajon Rondo’s season-ending injury.

8. Indiana Pacers (32-21, Last Week: 8): The Pacers have won six of their last eight games. Despite it being just an All Star game, Paul George established himself as a star in this league by putting up 17 points in the exhibition.

7. Denver Nuggets (33-21, Last Week: 5): The Nuggets continue to struggle on the road, as they’ve lost three games in a row while going 1-3 on their latest road trip.

6. New York Knicks (32-18, Last Week: 6): The Knicks have lost three of their last four. While Carmelo Anthony is playing well, Amar’e Stoudemire’s return has come with mixed results so far.

5. Memphis Grizzlies (33-18, Last Week: 7): Despite trading away Rudy Gay, the Grizzlies have played relatively well; winning three games in a row before the All Star break.

4. Oklahoma City Thunder (39-14, Last Week: 3): Thunder have lost two consecutive games, but more importantly, lost their most recent game to the Miami Heat. The fact that the Heat won quite decidedly in Oklahoma City raises doubt as to whether the Thunder have what it takes to dethrone the Heat should the two teams meet in the NBA Finals once again.

3. Los Angeles Clippers (39-17, Last Week: 4): The Clippers have won four in a row, and Chris Paul looked as good as ever as he went on to win the All Star MVP trophy, yet he made it look so easy. He’s established himself as the best point guard in the league, and one of the best closers as well.

2. Miami Heat (36-14, Last Week: 2): The Heat have won seven games in a row, and LeBron James is playing some of the best basketball this league has seen.

1. San Antonio Spurs (42-12, Last Week: 1): The Spurs have won 14 of their last 15 games, which is simply remarkable.
