With the NBA trade deadline approaching on Thursday, there have been plenty of rumors, but only two trades have been made.
Heading into the 2015-16 NBA season, there were reports Pau Gasol would opt-out of his three-year, $22 million contract with the Chicago Bulls. With Gasol still playing at an All-Star level, the Bulls are ‘aggressively shopping’ him according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical:
The Chicago Bulls are aggressively shopping All-Star forward Pau Gasol, league sources told The Vertical.
While the Bulls have a depleted frontcourt, they are looking to get value back for Gasol:
Gasol, 35, can opt out of his contract this summer and become an unrestricted free agent, and Bulls general manager Gar Forman seems determined to move him before Thursday’s trade deadline with the hope of bringing back value.
Although Gasol remains one of the best frontcourt players in the league, he has not been able to escape from trade rumors. Despite helping the Los Angeles Lakers to two championships in three consecutive NBA Finals appearances, Gasol’s name was always mentioned around the trade deadline, but he remained a consummate professional.
For the Lakers, it has been extremely quiet for the franchise as the deadline approaches. However, there have been numerous reports of the Lakers trying to move their veteran players in Roy Hibbert, Brandon Bass, Lou Williams and Nick Young.
